Bass trombonist Brandt Attema has been a member of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra since 1999. He is also a member of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble and the New Trombone Collective. As a substitute he has played with, amongst others, the Asko

Schoenberg ensemble and many great orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

In September 1999 Brandt Attema won the international competition for bass trombone in Guebwiller – France. Since then he has been a soloist and clinician at numerous festivals throughout the world.

Brandt Attema has been professor of bass trombone at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague since September 2007.

In July 2008 Brandt played the debut concert of his duo with harpist Astrid Haring at the World Harp Congress in Amsterdam. Since then they have inspired many composers to write for this unique combination. They have performed concerts all over the world together, for example in Brazil, Singapore, Denmark, Sweden and Germany.

Brandt Attema studied with Ben van Dijk at the conservatory of Rotterdam where he finished his studies with the highest honours. He also studied with such great trombonists and teachers as George Wiegel, Bart van Lier, Michel Becquet, Joe Alessi, Charley Vernon, Michael Mulcahy and Blair Bollinger.

Bona School Band won the 2nd runner-up in the 64th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (School Band Secondary Intermediate Class)

Holding on a to solid training and hard work as the key to success, the Bona School Band devoted their best united effort and was rewarded the 2nd runner-up in the 64th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Such encouraging result brought great joy to staff and students alike, as we all benefited from the learning process. SBC expresses our sincere gratitude to conductors, teachers, parents, old boys and girls and friends for their instincting love and support.

Warmest Congratulations to School Band on Winning the Gold Award at the Winter Band Festival 2011



Under the baton of Mr. Fung Ka-hing, our school band performed the Disney greatest hits "The Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas and "Persis" by de James L. Hosay. Our band members presented the to pieces with outstanding skills and musicality, gained the second highest score 92.00 among the 20 competitors from China, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong and awarded the gold medal in the competition. This is the recognition of our unfailing efforts and dedication to excellence in music. Congratulations to all the band members!

School Band gave performance in HKUST Congregation 2011

HKUST's 2011 Congregation was held over three days from 16 to 18 November 2011
at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Atrium on the campus. Our school band is honored to
give performance during the ceremony and builds its reputation by giving high
quality music.

School Band Plays at the opening ceremony in HKU Information Day 2011

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held an Information Day for Undergraduate Admissions on October 29 and 30. A record high of over 80,000 visitors were received during the two event days.

At the opening ceremony on Saturday (October 29), HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui announced the premiere of "A Hundred Years of Home Stories", a theatre performance created by a group of HKU current students and alumni to re-tell the history of HKU and the Hong Kong society. Professor Tsui acknowledged the devotion and hardwork of the performers, the production crew and the Director, Ms Krissy Lam, over the past few months and invited the audience to feel and appreciate the intellectual encounter at the theatre.
